ABOUT ABOUT

Through funding provided by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (Region 4) Brownfields Program the City of Frankfort will be hosting a workshop that will focus on economic redevelopment of our Historic Downtown Districts.  Many of our nation’s most valuable historic assets are falling into decay due to declining economic conditions of our urban communities.  The focus of this forum will be to bring together stakeholders that collaboratively can effect changes to our historic downtown districts. Our forum speakers will be comprised of property owners, developers, business owners, entrepreneurs, urban planners, brownfield experts, realtors and government officials who collectively can help stimulate strategies for urban revitalization.

Since its inception in 1995, EPA's Brownfields Program has grown into a proven, results-oriented program that has changed the way contaminated, urban property is perceived, addressed, and managed. EPA's Brownfields Program is designed to empower states, communities, and other stakeholders in economic redevelopment to work together in a timely manner to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields. We are grateful that the USEPA is providing the assessment and cleanup funds needed to revitalize our communities, and especially grateful that the agency is sponsoring this event.  We ask that you join us in helping to make our downtown historic districts thrive.

Lunch will be provided. Registration begins at 8:30 A.M. and the forum begins at 9 A.M. Attendees can join in a tour of Buffalo Trace Distillery from 4:30-5:30 PM. All times are eastern. Check out the agenda.
